Link -‘Social Media as War?’ via War on the Rocks

Along with August Cole, Peter Singer wrote Ghost Fleet, which is considered one of the best books about how technology is changing warfare. Now he has turned his attention to the immediate crisis at hand: the weaponisation of social media.

In his latest book LikeWar: The Weaponization of Social Media, co-authored by Emerson T. Booking, the focus isn’t so much on warfare. Rather, Singer considers how social media is affecting society broadly: how we consume information; why social media is so addictive; and how social movements, celebrities, politicians, terrorists, and states have capitalised on it.

A great book to read while relaxing at the beach or by the side of a pool over the Christmas break.
