Cove Talk – The Way We Fight with Ian Langford

The Cove is delighted to present the recording of our first #CoveTalk webinar – ‘The Way We Fight’ with Colonel Ian Langford.

We’ve been developing our webinar capability over the last few months.  The aim, as ever, is to help Army evolve its intellectual edge through giving serving soldiers and officers access to top-quality material.  We also hope to provide an opportunity to facilitate unit PME and foster mess culture by hosting guest speakers at no cost to members across Army.

The live CoveTalks themselves are invitation only, and reserved for the ADF.  However whenever possible we will share the videos with the wider family of Covesters!

For Australian Army members who missed out on the opportunity to ask their question during the live feed, Ian is happy to take your questions via email.  Use the Corporate Directory to find his defence email address, or alternatively leave your questions on the Cove website.

About the Presenter:

Ian Langford has had a long and distinguished career within the Australia Army, and Special Operations Command.  He has seen operational service in Butterworth, Solomon Islands, East Timor, Bougainville, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, South West Pacific, and Afghanistan. He has a degree in Management, a Master of Arts, a Master of Defence Studies and a Master of Strategic Studies and is an Adjunct Lecturer at Charles Sturt University.  He is the only Australian to be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross three times.  He is the current G5 at HQ FORCOMD.

  1. Excellent webinar. I will socialise it to my students in the Canadian Army – I expect that it will be as thought-provoking to them as to the ADF cohort who tuned in.

What does Australian Capstone doctrine give in terms of the Joint Operating Concept (how Aus might fight a future conflict)?
