The CONOPS is a verbal or graphic statement, in broad outline, of intent in regard to an operation. The CONOPS will be embodied in the OPPLAN and ultimately the OPORD.

This handy aide gives you a guide to the style of brief utilised to communicate the CONOPS to a superior, to staff or to the commander of a flanking unit.  It is suited to all junior leaders.

The brief may be supported by an overlay with details such as groupings, disposition of manoeuvre elements and key control measures.

The brief should be succinct and take no longer than 5-7 min.
