Video – Manoeuvre BOS

Across Army, there is a wide range of trades, specialties and career pathways, and for many it can be a long time between opportunities to practice and enhance our tactical skills. For those not actively involved in combat roles, often the only opportunity to intensively practice all-corps tactical skills are career courses, and it can often be around five years between those courses. Understandably, there is a lot of skill fade that can occur if you don’t practice these skills or create chances to refresh your knowledge.

This video, produced by ALPC, provides a comprehensive explanation of the Manoeuvre Battlespace Operating System (Manoeuvre BOS). It explores the following:

  • The Manoeuvre BOS characteristics and principles
  • The Manoeuvre BOS capabilities
  • The Manoeuvre BOS planning data
  • Airmobile planning considerations
  • Synchronisation of effects

The elements of the Manoeuvre BOS have three characteristics: firepower, mobility and protection. It is the dynamic element of combat providing the means of concentrating sufficient force at the decisive point to achieve surprise, psychological shock, physical momentum and moral dominance. The information contained in this video will enhance your understanding of how Manoeuvre assets can be utilised in the planning and conduct of operations.

Watch the video to refresh your knowledge on the Manoeuvre BOS in order to assist you with your next TEWT, and take a look at our other videos in this series to examine each of the individual BOS’ in more detail.
