In this ‘3×5 Leadership‘ article the author indicates that, in his experience, Army leaders either fail to provide quality feedback to their subordinates, or do so in an ineffective and destructive manner. He believes we are either too afraid to have the hard conversations, fail to make time to provide feedback, or we don’t value developing members of our team. The result of this is that our subordinates suffer because a critical aspect of their leader development is missing.

The article provides a number of research-based lessons and experience-based tips to help us to give helpful and effective feedback.
