“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

Building on the Lessons from Mentoring in PNG, the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment have identified lessons from mentoring the Philippines Armed Forces and compiled them in Operating as an Australian Army Training Advisor – Big 5.

These lessons are not constrained to nation or theatre; they are universal. The authors hope that the many observations collected over months of training, will serve as an aid to anyone deploying, or currently deployed to, an adviser mission with foreign forces.
