Operation Overmatch is a video game that its developers believe will change how the US Army fights wars.
In this article via The Atlantic, the developers of Overmatch explain how they monitor the actions of soldiers and the tactics they use when using futuristic weapons in digital battles against peers. It’s hoped that the data gathered will help inform Army decisions of future procurement with the purpose of building a more forward thinking, prepared force.
While the game itself may not yet have the top-end graphics of leading commercial games, the idea of using prototypes or future technology in a simulated environment as a means of developing tactics is unique and may change the way the military does business.
